Carl V. Gisolfi, Ph.D., FACSM, was one of the most influential leaders of ACSM in its 50+ year history. With Gatorade, ACSM created the Gisolfi Memorial Fund to honor his many contributions to the college and to the exercise science field. Grants from this fund focus on student research in thermoregulation, exercise, and hydration.

Created to support the next generation of ACSM leaders, the Diversity and Mentorship Fund supports leadership development programs to benefit the emerging professionals who will drive future advances in sports medicine and exercise science.

In alignment with ACSM's mission to advance the science of health and human performance, the Doctoral Student Research Fund was created to directly fund the next generation of researchers. Grants from this fund support basic and applied research conducted by doctoral students in the fields of exercise science and sports medicine.

The foundation recognizes that education is a key element to fulfilling the mission of ACSM. The goal of the endowment is to fund educational outreach efforts in exercise science or sports medicine.

Thanks to the generosity of ACSM Past President Barry Franklin, Ph.D., FACSM and his wife, Linda, this fund offers grants to develop, execute, and evaluate EIM On Campus programs. The Franklin’s have issued a challenge to the EIM-OC Committee and ACSM members to match their pledge to extend the life of the microgrants.

The Krivickas Memorial Fund, established in honor of the esteemed member and trustee of ACSM, Lisa S. Krivickas, MD, FACSM, assists female clinicians with travel expenses to present their scholarly work on sports medicine or exercise science at the ACSM Annual Meeting.

Paffenbarger Jr., M.D., Dr.PH, FACSM, a pioneer in the field of epidemiologic research on physical activity and health, made an extraordinarily generous gift by donating his share of the first Olympic Prize in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine to ACSM. Grants from this fund support early career researchers focused on physical activity epidemiology, observational studies of physical activity and health outcomes, or on randomized controlled trials focused on physical activity and important public health issues.
